What is the DOS ID?
The DOS ID is a unique identifier assigned by the NY Department of State when your LLC is filed. It appears on all official state documents and can be used to look up your company in the state database.
What address should I use for publication?
Use the Service of Process (SOP) address shown in your LLC record. This is the address where the Secretary of State will forward legal documents. It must match exactly what is on file with NY DOS.
What if my LLC has a typo in the state records?
You must use the name exactly as it appears in state records, including any typos. If you want to fix a typo, you must first file an amendment with NY DOS, wait for it to be processed, then publish with the corrected name.
Why can't I find my LLC?
If your LLC was recently filed, it may take 1-2 business days to appear in the database. Also check that you're using the exact LLC name as filed, including "LLC" at the end. Try searching with fewer words if the full name doesn't work.
