LLC Publishers built a free tool, "New York LLC Publication", that answers questions about the New York LLC publication requirement inside ChatGPT and Claude. It explains what the law requires, gives LLC Publishers' price for each of the 62 counties and the county clerk's contact details, drafts a publication notice from your LLC's details, checks a notice you already have against the items the statute lists, and checks a filing package. It is free, and there is nothing to sign up for with LLC Publishers.

Example questions

  • How much does LLC publication cost in Albany County?
  • What happens if my New York LLC doesn't publish within 120 days?
  • Draft a publication notice for Bright Path Consulting LLC in Kings County.
  • Is this LLC publication notice missing anything? (then paste the notice)
  • Which county is Brooklyn for LLC publication?

Troubleshooting

  • It won't connect: use the full address, including /claude (Claude) or /v2 (other tools). Opening the address in a browser shows no page, because it only answers MCP requests.
  • A tool is missing: remove the connector and add it again.
  • A county isn't recognized: use the county's name, for example Kings County for Brooklyn.
  • Still stuck: contact LLC Publishers. Privacy: privacy policy.

Tool Capabilities in Detail

Requirements for Each LLC Type

The tool covers domestic LLCs, foreign LLCs and PLLCs:

  • Domestic LLCs: Section 206; proof of publication is filed within 120 days, measured from the LLC's effective formation date
  • Foreign LLCs: Section 802(b); a Notice of Qualification, with the 120 days counted from the filing of the Application for Authority
  • PLLCs: Section 1203; the notice states the profession as its purpose (foreign PLLCs: Section 1306)

It also covers who must publish (single-member LLCs, inactive LLCs) and the theatrical production company exemption.

County Prices

Ask about any of New York's 62 counties for LLC Publishers' price. The tool reads prices live from the same database the website uses.

For Albany County, for example, it returns:

  • Price: $395 all-inclusive
  • What's included: publication in both newspapers for six weeks, both affidavits of publication, the Certificate of Publication filing, and the $50 state filing fee
  • Newspapers: the newspapers on the NY State Comptroller's unclaimed-funds list for Albany County; for an LLC's notice, the Albany County Clerk designates the two newspapers

LLC Publishers' price is one fixed, one-time total determined by the county listed in the LLC's Articles of Organization, from $395. Prices vary by county because newspaper advertising rates differ, and the New York City boroughs are the highest.

Draft a Publication Notice

Give the tool your LLC's name, county, filing date and the address the Filing Receipt gives for service of process, and it drafts a notice. It lists each item the statute says the notice includes (Section 206(a) for a domestic LLC, Section 802(b) for a foreign LLC, Section 1203 for a PLLC), such as:

  • The LLC's name, exactly as filed with the NY Department of State
  • The date the Articles of Organization were filed
  • The county of the LLC's office
  • The Secretary of State as agent for service of process, and the address it mails process to
  • The purpose (for a PLLC, its profession)

Anything the tool cannot fill from what you gave it appears as a bracketed placeholder, for example the principal business location or a registered agent, if the LLC has one.

Check an Existing Notice

Already have a notice, from a newspaper, another service or your own draft? Paste it in. Automated checks look for:

  • The LLC's name, as filed
  • The Secretary of State designation as agent for service of process
  • The address the Secretary of State mails process to
  • The county
  • The filing date
  • Notice of Qualification wording, for a foreign LLC

When an item is missing or does not match, the tool names each item the statute lists that it did not find. Where it can, it suggests a corrected notice that fills in the mailing address or, for a foreign LLC, the notice type, with bracketed placeholders. Every answer also lists each item the statute names, to check against the notice.

In the demo above, the check catches a notice that is missing the address the Secretary of State mails process to.

Check a Filing Package

Before the Certificate of Publication goes to the Department of State, tell the tool what you have. Its checklist covers:

  • The Certificate of Publication form for the entity type: Form DOS-1708-f for a domestic LLC, DOS-1707-f for a foreign LLC, DOS-1709-f for a PLLC
  • Both notarized affidavits of publication, from the daily and the weekly newspaper
  • The $50 filing fee, by check, money order or credit card authorization (Form DOS-1515-f)
  • The Department of State's address

The Division of Corporations' important-updates page says: "Please submit all filings and requests via email or mail."

From the newspapers to the State filing, for one fixed, one-time price determined by your county.

Get Started

When You Need More Than a Tool

The tool explains the requirement, drafts and checks, and answers questions. It does not place the notice in newspapers, collect the affidavits, or file the Certificate of Publication.

Doing it yourself means confirming the county on the LLC's record, getting the two newspapers the county clerk designates, placing the notice in both for six consecutive weeks, collecting a notarized affidavit from each, completing the Certificate of Publication for your entity type, and mailing or emailing it to the Department of State with the $50 state filing fee.

LLC Publishers does each of those steps for you:

  • Checks the county on the LLC's New York Department of State record, then that county clerk's newspaper designations
  • Places the notice in both designated newspapers for six consecutive weeks
  • Collects both notarized affidavits of publication
  • Prepares the Certificate of Publication for your entity type and files it electronically through eCorp, the State's online filing system, as a service company (a business that files documents with the Department of State for others), with the $50 state filing fee
  • Sends you the New York Department of State's response on the Certificate of Publication

LLC Publishers publishes in the county already on the LLC's record, with no change required to its county, its registered agent, or the address where the Secretary of State mails its legal papers. When the owner designates a different New York county for the LLC's office, LLC Publishers files the Certificate of Change first, then publishes in that county. LLCs past the 120-day window are handled too: New York State continues to accept publication filings after the 120-day window.

The price is one fixed, one-time total determined by the county listed in the LLC's Articles of Organization, from $395 (Albany County). The whole process takes about 8–10 weeks end to end: six consecutive weeks of publication, about 1–2 weeks for the affidavits and about 1–2 weeks for the Department of State. The newspapers and the State set their own pace, so these are estimates. Certificate of Publication delivered, or our service fee back (terms).

FAQ

Is the tool really free?

Yes. It is free in ChatGPT (free or paid accounts) and in Claude, and there is nothing to sign up for with LLC Publishers. LLC Publishers built it as a resource for LLC owners working through the publication requirement.

Is the pricing in the tool accurate?

Yes. The tool reads LLC Publishers' prices live from the same database the website uses. The price shown is LLC Publishers' all-inclusive price: both newspapers, both affidavits, the State filing and the $50 state filing fee. Doing it yourself costs what the two newspapers the county clerk designates charge, plus the $50 state filing fee.

Can I use the drafted notice directly with newspapers?

Only once its bracketed placeholders are filled in. The draft is a template built from the details you gave; anything it could not fill appears as a bracketed placeholder, and the details come from the LLC's Filing Receipt from the NY Department of State. Some newspapers have their own formatting for legal notices.

What if the notice check misses an issue?

The automated checks cover six items: the LLC's name, the Secretary of State designation, the mailing address for process, the county, the filing date and, for a foreign LLC, the Notice of Qualification wording. Every answer also lists each item the statute names, to check against the notice. An automated check is general information, not legal advice.

Does the tool work for foreign LLCs and PLLCs?

Yes. It covers domestic New York LLCs (Section 206), foreign LLCs registered in New York (Section 802(b)) and professional service LLCs (Section 1203), with the notice wording, filing form and 120-day count for each.

Can the tool file my publication for me?

No. The tool explains, drafts and checks; it does not contact newspapers or government agencies. LLC Publishers handles the full process, from the newspapers to the State filing. See how it works.

How We Built This Tool

LLC Publishers has handled LLC publications in 46 New York counties and serves all 62. The tool draws on:

  • County prices read live from LLC Publishers' database
  • Newspaper lists from the NY State Comptroller's unclaimed-funds list for each county, which the Comptroller provides "for compliance with New York State Abandoned Property Law, not for compliance with any other law" (for an LLC's notice, the county clerk designates the two newspapers; in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx the clerk assigns newspapers to each LLC)
  • Statute text from Section 206, Section 802 and Section 1203
  • Process knowledge from the 1,465 publications LLC Publishers has handled

The tool was last updated and tested on November 1, 2026.
